NHL: 30 best Game 7 performances in Stanley Cup history: 16. Patrice Bergeron

  • 2 goals
  • 2 points

The Boston Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks played a close, physical series in 2011. Neither team wanted to give an inch as the Stanley Cup was on the line.

Patrice Bergeron had a forgettable Game 6. He failed to score a goal or record an assist. Still, his Bruins squad took home the 5-2 lead.

While winning a title was on the forefront of Bergeron’s mind, he refused to have another pathetic showing. With that said, he was one of, if not, the main reason why the Bruins were able to make their way to the title.

Bergeron came out fearless in the opening frame. He banged bodies with opposing players and was relentless in his pursuit of the puck. With a few minutes remaining in the opening frame, Bergeron shot one right down the middle and into the back of the net. Even as the Bruins built their lead to 2-0, he refused to let up as he scored again in the second, giving the Bruins a 3-0 advantage.

The Bruins would score once more in the third but at that point, it was window dressing. The Bruins dismantled the Canucks by a score of 4-0 and Bergeron made up for his lackadaisical Game 6 with a Game 7 for the ages.
