Fansided’s Fandom 250 is a ranking of the top fandoms including celebrities, sports, and entertainment. The list has featured six of the best NHL franchise’s in its rankings from Stanley Cup champs to classic teams.

Boston screams passionate sports fans.  The Boston Bruins made the list and ranked in at 207 in honor of the team and city’s enthusiastic sports fans.

The Original Six team has kept the hearts of hockey lovers since the beginning and has brought home six Stanley Cups and 25 Division Championships. There isn’t a night during hockey season you’d find an empty seat in TD Garden and the amount of hockey legends who have worn black and gold jerseys is a long list.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, another Original Six team, ranks in at 184. Toronto, nicknamed the “Mecca of Hockey,” is home to some of the world’s biggest hockey fans, therefore it’s only natural the fandom ranks in.

Toronto was home to the NHL’s first All-Star Game and the Leafs sell out of tickets on a regular basis. Maple Leafs fans can’t get enough of hockey, especially from their home team.

150. Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens rank in at 150. The team, considered hockey royalty, has tradition and passion unlike any other. Montreal holds the league record for 23 Stanley Cups and has a sell-out streak at the Bell Centre for a record-breaking 422 straight games.

The city of Montreal is united by the Canadiens, hence making the fandom stronger than ever. Passion for hockey runs deep in Montreal and, therefore, the Canadiens never like letting their fans down. The Canadiens fandom is just as strong as their team plays.

Detroit has some of the most beloved hockey traditions around. The Red Wings have been practicing their traditions so long that even new fans don’t question their authenticity. Between the Legend of the Octopus and the dedication to team culture, Red Wings fans don’t do anything without giving 100%.

Probably the most original in nature, and tradition, of the Original Six teams, the Detroit Red Wings have made their mark on the NHL. The Chicago Blackhawks run the United Center during hockey season. Chicago’s home team is one of the country’s most popular franchises. Between the Original Six team’s history and their strong success in the past few decades, the Hawks are found in the hearts of many hockey fans.

The Hawks have so many fans at games that the franchise has resorted to ‘standing room’ tickets since the team, on average, fills their games by 110%.  Finally, three Stanley Cups in a six-year span and some of the League’s top players if just an added bonus for all of the passionate hockey fans in Chicago.

Pittsburgh is filled with NHL stars, including captain Sidney Crosby, which only adds to the team’s pride. The Penguins’ success, especially after taking home the Stanley Cup this year, only made the fandom stronger. Most of all,Pittsburgh is celebrating 50 years of Penguins hockey and is rooting for more success moving forward.
