Saturday night saw the excitement of 10 big hockey games last night. The rising Blue Jackets topped the NY Islanders (6-2), winning their sixth in a row and grabbing fourth place in the league. The Penguins also beat Tampa Bay in a close match (4-3) in Tampa while the LA Kings took the 4-1 win against the Senators on home ice. The slumping Coyotes finally grabbed a win against Nashville in Arizona (4-1).

In addition, the Sharks grabbed two points against the Hurricanes in a close 4-3 match while the Flames grabbed a 6-2 win against the Jets.  The Panthers topped the Canucks 4-2 on home ice, the Maple Leafs buried the Bruins 4-1 in Boston, and the Flyers keep winning with a 4-2 win over the Stars. Furthermore, the Canadiens sank the Avalanche in a huge 10-1 victory, with four goals from Max Pacioretty.

Rangers’ Backup G Antti Raanta Gets Third Straight Start

The NY Rangers are opting for Raanta and sitting Henrik Lundqvist for the third game in a row. Coach Alain Vigneault stated that Raanta is the better goaltender right now, therefore he wants the goalie to ride out his hot streak. In addition, Lundqvist hasn’t been a healthy scratch this long since 2013. [NY Daily News]

The Department of Player Safety announced that Ottawa Senators d-man Mark Borowiecki will be suspended for two games after boarding LA Kings forward Tyler Toffoli on Saturday night. Coyotes Claim F Josh Jooris Off Waivers From Rangers

The NY Rangers placed forward Josh Jooris on waivers early Saturday morning. Jooris has one goal and one assist in 12 games with the Rangers. Arizona has been in search of new players down the middle, therefore the Coyotes picked up Jooris on waivers. [NBC Sports]

Montreal Canadiens Sink Colorado Avalanche 10-1

The Canadiens have proved that scoring is still easy, even without forwards Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais in the lineup who will be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks. The Canadiens showed off their scoring touch with the 10-goal victory.
